
Wednesday, February 7th, is National Women and Girls in Sports Day! National Girls and Women in Sports Day is here to raise awareness for and act as a reminder about the positive aspects of sports and the continued need to promote gender equality in every way. Last night at the HS basketball game, all the women and girls in sports were recognized. Big shout out to Coach LaBarge for organizing this.

HECTOR of the Week:
Staff - Ms. Patton works hard and makes sure her students are engaged. She takes pride in her work and shows up ready to teach and learn everyday. We are happy to have her as a part of the team.
JH - Melany Lebron-Perez-Melany is a fun and hard-working student. She has a great sense of humor and style. She is a superb student. She helps her peers whenever she can, and she is very trustworthy. She is a great example of HECTOR.
HS - Brendan Steward - Brendan has really stepped it up in class and is really trying hard to focus/learn what is being taught. He has also been respectful and tolerant to all those around him.

Athletes of the Week HS Boys BB
JV - Elijah has been working harder and you can see it as he has been very productive in his minutes on the court.
Varsity - Since coming back from injury Logan Servaes has slowly been put into the line-up and made a large impact last week. Keep it up Logan.

Varsity- One of the captains, Janaya Baca is a leader on the court. She never complains and works to ensure her team is successful. Her stats are not reflective of her effort, but she is an invaluable member of the team.
JV- Izabell Trujillo
Week of Jan 29
Varsity- Alexis Vigil is continually asking questions and working to improve. She makes the best of her time on the court and helps to challenge others at practice. She came off the bench against Crowley and used her tough defense to help mount a comeback.

League Swim Meet Results: 👏
Grace Gardner placed 2nd in 100 freestyle, 4th in 100 backstroke, 3rd in 400 freestyle relay and 5th in 200 medley relay.
Madison Huffman placed 14th in 50 freestyle, 16th in 100 freestyle and 10th in 400 freestyle relay.
Olivia Marfil placed 33rd in 50 freestyle, 28th in 100 backstroke and 11th in the 200 freestyle relay.

It's National School Counseling Week 2024, Thank you to our counselors: Ms. Jenn Pointon and Mr. Austin Coy! “School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 5–9, 2024, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
