
Las Animas School District will take a FAN BUS to Walsenburg on Monday, Feb.19 for the HS Boys District Basketball game. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Bus will leave the HS at 4:00 p.m. Gate Entry (no passes) is $8/$5 - concessions also available HS students need to pick up a permission form & sign up today in the office - Adults please call the HS office to sign up today by 4:00 pm 719-456-0211


Here is the first round of the district basketball tournament. Gate is $8/$5. CHSAA passes only -excepted. No other passes are accepted.
Boys will play Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Walsenburg.
Girls will play at home on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. against Walsenburg.

Athletes of the Week for HS Boys Basketball:
JV - Luis Cadenas, he has come on as a strong leader and had a really great week of games.
Varsity - Aaron Vargas. He had a new career high of 14 points in an exciting league matchup vs. Swink on Friday night. Keep working hard Aaron.
HS Wrestling Athletes of the Week
Braydon Ortiz - Braydon had a great regional tournament capturing a Regional Championship as a freshman and earning himself a trip to Ball Arena for State.
Izabella Martinez - Bella has been working hard in practice and it showed in her performance at Regionals. She makes history as our first ever Girl’s wrestling state qualifier. En route to her 4th place finish she beat 2 ranked opponents.


HECTOR of the Week
Staff -Mrs. Katie Lockhart is the pick for Hector of the week. She is every part of Hector in and out of the classroom! She is engaged in each student's work and always is checking in with everybody. She is positive in her teaching and I am super happy she’s part of our team.
JH - John Waldroupe. John has been working very hard in his classes this semester. He is very polite and respectful. John is also an excellent example of HECTOR as a member of the wrestling team. He wrestles with grit and heart, and his sportsmanship is top notch!
HS - Bella Martinez - She is a very proactive student who stays on top of schoolwork, and extracurricular activities. It is a very refreshing quality. She HECTOR daily in all aspects of her life.


Dear 8th Grade Parents /Guardians,
The Eighth grade class will be taking a field trip to John Martin on Wednesday February 14th @ 8:15 am returning back to school by 10:00 am. The eighth grade science class is learning about Biodiversity and habitats. We thought it would be great to see some of our local biodiversity. Please sign this permission slip for your child to attend the field trip.
