HECTOR of the Week
HS - Nate Garcia - Nate has done a great job staying on task and completing his work on time even when he doesn't feel like it. He is always respectful and tolerant of others. He is involved in coaching 5-6 grade football and wants to help improve our community and its members.
Staff - Mrs. Pena is the staff HECTOR of the week. She is passionate about teaching and coaching the students of Las Animas. Mrs. Pena is also going above and beyond to help out with other school events like Prom. She is an excellent example of what it means to be HECTOR.
JH - Josias Flores-Josias is working very hard in school. He has a positive attitude towards his teachers and peers. He has a fun sense of humor. He has a wide variety of interests that bring good conversations to class. Josias is a great example of HECTOR in our school

Athlete of the week:
Kenneth Broome: Kenneth had a big task on the O line this week going against the big D line of daysprings Christian. Broome stepped up and battled all game to give the Trojans opportunities to succeed.
Gio Chavez : Gio had a tough game bringing in 4 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and a 15 yard interception to help shift the momentum.
Damien won the Santa Fe League championship making him a 3x champion. Damien is in 1st place in our region and 3rd in the state!

Lady Trojans vs Swallows Charter Academy - tomorrow @ 4:30 p.m. JH/HS students: come dressed in Hawaiian Attire and get into the game FREE! 🏝️🌸

JH and HS students interested in learning more about health and wellness for their community, family, and friends and want to be part of Student DHAC, go to the front of the lunch line on Tuesday, get a paper tray, and meet in Mrs. Bucholz's room in the JH.

Mixed age got a special guest on Thursday! Sparkles the guinea pig! Big shout out to Mrs McClain for letting her come visit us! Mixed age enjoyed petting her and holding her! Some were a little scared to hold her. The kids practiced being gentle and kind as well as explaining and learning what qualities an animal had! Including Sparkles’ soft fur!

HECTOR of the Week
JH - Mariela Gonzales -She has been outstanding in school and in volleyball this year. Her attitude has been great. She shows excellence in everything she does. She works very hard on her school work and takes pride in her work. We are all proud of the way Mari shows HECTOR.
Spectator/Athlete - Tanaya Ethridge was a great example of HECTOR at our first home Junior High volleyball game. She was optimistic throughout the entire game and was very respectful to her peers while playing.
HS - Nylah Flores has been actively participating to the fullest extent in her classes. She is respectful, hard-working and always on task, and gives her teachers her best!
Staff - Mr. Marlow-Mr. Marlow shows EXCELLENCE by always being willing to help when needed. He truly cares about our students and seeks to help them whenever he notices any behavior change which prevents bigger problems. He is a valuable member of the MTSS team and we are lucky to have him on our staff. Thank you Mr. Marlow for showing HECTOR!
