Mrs. Netherton and her Ag 1 students are attending the FFA BIG (Being Involved as a Greenhand) Conference at Lamar Community College today!


LAHS Families: FYI......Mr. Osborn's Biology classes will be taking a field trip this morning to visit two ponds in Bent County.


Mrs. Lockhart’s classes are hatching out eggs- they even named each egg! 🐣




New Opening at LASD: Food Service Worker (6 am - 2 pm)


⛳ The Trojans competed in Alamosa for Regionals on 9/19. The competition was was tough, with this being the first time the Trojans came face to face with some of the teams. The Trojans had fun and finished the season proud. As a team, the Trojans placed 7th out of 18 teams. Individual results follow:
Cody Netherton - 35th (97)
Kree Wallace - 44th (101)
TJ Ortiz - 53rd (111)
Damien Baca tied for 2nd place with a score of 76. The tie ended up being a scorecard playoff and put Damien at 3rd place overall. This placement qualified Damien to complete in the State Championship at RainDance National in Windsor on October 2nd and 3rd. This makes Damien a 3x State Qualifier. Way to go, Damien!


HS Volleyball Schedule Update: there will be only one game (Varsity Only) at 5:30 p.m. at Walsenburg on Thursday, September 28th.


Jr. High Volleyball players went to Otero to watch some college volleyball! 🏐👍

On October 5th, our Junior High and High School students will take the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS), an important survey about student health. The survey asks students about health topics, including unintentional injuries and violence, mental health, school safety, substance use, physical activity and nutrition, sexual behavior (optional), and risk and protective factors.
The survey results will help your school, community groups, and state health agencies to plan programs and services for youth.

HECTOR of the Week
Staff - Susan Waring for Staff Hector of the Week. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to go out her way to help someone and is always happy to help when she can. She has such an awesome personality and always makes everyone laugh. Keep up the fantastic job Mrs. Waring! You're killing it! The Las Animas School District is very lucky to have such a hard worker like you! Keep Smiling!!
JH - Leticia Salazar-Leticia is always respectful, coachable, positive, and optimistic. She works very hard in school and sports. She has a great sense of humor. She is very reliable and fun.
HS - Mathew Watkins is always willing to try anything his teachers assign to him and he is a very hard worker. He is kind, and a great friend to all he meets. Mathew shows HECTOR in and out of school.
