The Santa Fe Trail Day Citizen of the Year award is given annually to someone who has supported not only Santa Fe Trail Day but the students all year long or has given their time and talents to the school for many years. This year’s recipient has helped with Santa Fe Trail Day for many years. She is a graduate of Las Animas High School and participated in Santa Fe Trail Day in her high school years. This Citizen of the Year has a profound love of history and works hard to make it a pleasure for people to learn and go back in time. She began working with the High School Students to give them learning experiences by introducing them to history and making it successful. She has benefited the students and community by her tireless efforts at Boggsville. Our 2023 Citizen of the Year is presented to Mrs. Anita Pointon.
