Ashley Montes named 2025 Colorado Council for Learning Disabilities Teacher of the Year Award!
Ashley Montes is a Special Education teacher at Las Animas Elementary School. Ashley has a passion for all students, but especially those that learn in different ways. She has worked tirelessly to develop a Special Education system at LAES that includes push-in support, a Resource Room and an SSN room. Ashley supervises, trains and coordinates scheduling for 8-10 paraprofessionals each year and leads with a kind, firm heart and mind. Our special education department continues to innovate in our service model and our in-group achievement percentile for students on IEPs on the 2024 CMAS was 69ile for math and 61ile for ELA (if you know CMAS results, this is a big deal!). Las Animas School District is incredibly grateful for Mrs. Ashley Montes.
