Athlete of the week:
Baseball
Damien Baca - Damien started the season strong with a 16 strikeout performance in the 8-4 win against Wiley. He only allowed 2 hits on the day.
Braydon Ortiz - Braydon had a career high 20 strikeouts against Centauri, and recorded all 21 outs on his own in the 7-0 win. Braydon also had a good weekend at the plate going 7 for 9.
Kree Wallace - Kree also set a new career high in stolen bases in a game where he had 5. On the weekend Kree totaled 10 stolen bases, and was 7 for 9 at the plate.
HS Track:
Boys: Kevin Nevland decided to try hurdles this year and it has become something he really enjoys. At Harrison, Kevin fell over his first hurdle earning some awesome road rash, got up, finished his heat in third of eight, and ran a :55. On Saturday, Kevin’s goal was to not fall, attack each hurdle, and run sub :50. He did all of that and ran a :49.2. Kevin has also led the team thus far in warm ups, made tremendous gains in his other events, and been a tremendous leader as a senior and as Mr Trojan on the track.
Girls: Audrey Busenitz has started her Trojan track and field season strong. She has grown in each practice and has learned a lot competing both on nice days and in 50 mph gusts. Audrey has been a staple for us in the 4x200 Relay and has been an amazing competitor in the 400m Dash. We look forward to Audrey’s growth, competitive spirit, and optimism each day.
