The FBLA state qualifiers competed hard this weekend in Denver at the state leadership conference. The competition was tough this year, Kevin Nevland worked hard to crack the top ten, coming up one spot short of qualifying for
nationals placing Fifth place in Computer Problem Solving. We are hungry to continue to work hard for our events next year. If you have any questions about FBLA or how to join feel free to reach out to a chapter member or Mr. Gallegos.

Congrats to Kennedi Olson, one of our Mighty Trojan First Graders in Mrs. Hines class on making it to state gymnastics this weekend! Good luck!!!
Bring home the gold! 💙

HECTOR of the Week
Staff - Carly Koch is my choice for HECTOR of the Week. Carly is a jack of all trades and wears many hats. When she
assigns students work, she ensures that everyone understands the assignment and consistently brings work to ISS
students even on the craziest days, which is very appreciated. She is always smiling and full of wisdom. We are all very
lucky to call her a co-worker and even more so, a friend. Congratulations, Mrs. Koch!
JH - Saphira Rodriquez. Aside from being an incredible artist, she is also extremely caring and empathetic toward her
classmates and her teachers. Saphira demonstrates all aspects of HECTOR, but especially the quality of EXCELLENCE.
HS - Aaron Vargas has been honest and excellent in his classes. He is not afraid to ask questions, nor is he willing to
come up short in his academics. He has a clear goal in mind for his post-secondary plan and continues to work diligently
toward that goal and it's payoff. Aaron embodies HECTOR in his attendance and we are very proud of him.

HS Track Athlete of the Week:
Darian Mondragon has really improved his speed and stride over the course of the last few weeks. His times are
improving and his team notices. Highlights of the week include placing in the 400m and 200m dash at Cheyenne Wells
and not receiving the first black bead of the season.
Jadann Eck stepped onto the track after a few weeks of injury ready to roll. Jadann came in to Tiger Relays as a no time
and placed 8th overall running in the first heat — she did the same in Cheyenne Wells in the 100 and 200. Jadann also
PRed in the long jump jumping off of the 12 foot board for the first time. Her celebratory antics earned her a black bead
for inadvertently tackling Coach Armstrong.
